How to play Fukkaha

Quick puzzles: race friends or team up.

At a glance

Goal

Fit every piece into a shared Shapes board, or solve as many increasingly difficult Paths, Equations or Slide puzzles as you can.

How to play

Everyone plays at the same time. Shapes shows your friends’ boards updating live. The other types give you a succession of puzzles.

For Paths, Equations and Slide, every 2 solves earn a charge; you can hold up to 2. In Race, spend a charge to freeze an opponent who has more solves than you over the match for 3 seconds; they then have 25 seconds of protection. You cannot freeze someone level with you or behind you, or someone frozen or protected. In Together, spend a charge on a hint for yourself or a teammate, up to 2 hints per puzzle.

After 15 seconds on a puzzle, you can choose a new puzzle at the same level. Skipping does not count as a solve. Shapes has no freezes or skips.

Ending and scoring

Timed Shapes Race ends when everyone finishes or time runs out. With N players, finishing order earns N, N−1, down to 1 point; unfinished players get 0. Results show finishing order and boards. Open Shapes Race ends when the first player finishes. Solo practice ends when you solve the board, with no race score.

On Paths, Equations and Slide, the most solves across the rounds wins Race, whichever types the rounds were. Together awards stars from the team’s combined solves each round: a total of 2 times the number of active players earns 1 star, 3 times earns 2 stars, and 5 times earns 3 stars. These are shared targets, not a requirement for each player separately. Win with an average of at least 1.5 stars per round: 5 stars over 3 rounds.

Modes and host options

Race

For 2–4 players, on Shapes or on any mix of the other puzzle types. Shapes uses one shared puzzle with a 90, 120, 180 or 240-second clock; 180 is the default. The host can instead choose Open, with no clock, until the first player finishes.

Together

For 1–4 players on any mix of Paths, Equations and Slide. Work towards the round’s shared stars rather than competing for the most solves.

Solo practice

Shapes practice is for one player, with no clock and no race score. To race or team up with bots, select bots explicitly.

Puzzle settings

The host picks Fit the pieces on its own, or one or more of Connect the numbers, Equations and Order the numbers. Fit the pieces takes longer, so it keeps its own clock and is never mixed with the others. With several of the other types, the rounds take turns between them, never the same type twice running. Easy, Normal and Hard set puzzle complexity. Paths, Equations and Slide offer 3, 4 or 5 rounds, each lasting 75 seconds.

Fit the pieces — Shapes

Cover the shape with every piece, without overlaps. On the numbered board, leave the spun space empty. On the day calendar, leave today’s weekday, date and month showing. On packing boards, place every piece without overlaps; some floor stays empty.

  1. Everyone gets the same shape and pieces: one of 40 wooden shapes, dealt at random so every shape comes up once before any repeats in the lamma, from the tangram, house and heart to the star, the numbered board, the day calendar and Discs and bars.
  2. Only the numbered board has a spinner. Watch the shared spin pick a space; that space stays blocked and empty.
  3. The day calendar is a honeycomb of the twelve months, the days 1–31, the seven weekdays and two × spaces. Cover every space except the weekday, date and month the match starts on (Cairo time); the × spaces are covered too.
  4. On the lattice boards, drag a piece onto the shape and it settles into the nearest spot it fits, or tap it and then its spot. Turn rotates it; Mirror flips it.
  5. Discs and bars has notched rounded bars and discs in a square tray. Easier levels have fewer pieces; on Hard the four bars must lean around the middle disc. Pieces slide and turn freely, without snapping to a grid: drag to move, twist with two fingers or drag the turn handle to rotate, and Mirror to flip.
  6. Move a piece or return it to the tray to change your answer. Friends’ boards update live as they play.
  7. There is one challenge only. Race scores finishing order; solo practice has no clock. There are no freezes or skips.

Connect the numbers — Paths

Join each number to its twin. Lines cannot cross, and every square must be filled.

  1. Every number appears twice, in the same colour.
  2. Put your finger on a number and drag to its twin. Lines go up, down, left or right, never diagonally.
  3. Lines cannot cross: dragging over another line cuts it. A line cannot go through another number or a hint’s line; that square flashes red.
  4. Every square must have a line through it, so some lines take the long way round.
  5. Tap a number to erase its line and start it again.

Equations

Fill the blanks with the numbers below so every equation across and down is right, such as 7+5=12.

  1. The grid holds equations reading left to right and top to bottom that cross at shared numbers. The given numbers and signs stay put.
  2. Each number below is one tile, even with two digits like 12. Tap it and then a blank, or drag it into place.
  3. Start with an equation missing a single number: there is always at least one. There is only one solution.
  4. Multiplication and division count too, and division must come out exact. At the top level there may be one extra number you do not need.
  5. An equation turns green when it is right and soft red when it needs a change. Tap a placed number to send it back, or drag it to another blank.

Order the numbers — Slide

Put the numbers in order 1, 2, 3… left to right, top to bottom, gap last.

  1. One square is empty, with a gold frame. Only numbers in its row or column can move; arrows show where they will go.
  2. Tap a number or swipe it the way its arrow points: it and everything between it and the gap move one step. A number that cannot move shakes red.
  3. Order the numbers along the top row from left to right, then the next row, with the gap ending bottom-right.
  4. Tip: finish the top row first, then the one below.
